I’ve just seen the video filmed at Welli Railway on Sunday, I heard about your strike during a students-as-workers forum attended by Andrew Little at VUW here in Wellington a week ago.
Stay Strong!
You’re worth being paid the same rate for the same work, this is rank discrimination.
I’ve travelled to OZ on both Quantas & Air NZ, with & without children, & I can say that the aircrew staff were pivotal in making those experiences pleasant and reassuring (I’m not a confident passenger!) and I think you’re all worth your weight in gold.
I’ve also worked in hospo, so I respect the extra work that goes in when you’re required to have skills in first aid, psychology (calming the nervous nellies like me ..) and awareness of security issues, as all airline staff must these days.
Good luck with the rest of your campaign, & know that a lot of NZ women, of many and varied backgrounds, will see this issue for the rank misogyny and sexism that it is.
